Pari-mutuel pooling with real-time dividends
MatchCore's pari-mutuel engine pools stakes, recalculates dividends on every contribution, and settles the pool automatically at close — with zero counterparty risk to the operator.
How pari-mutuel pooling works
Instead of matching individual counterparties, every stake on an event is added to a shared pool. MatchCore tracks the pool balance per outcome in real time and publishes a live indicative dividend, recalculated on every new stake, so participants always see current odds.
When the pool closes — at post time, event start, or an operator-defined cut-off — the engine deducts the configured takeout rate and distributes the remainder proportionally to winning stakes, deterministically and atomically, in the same write-ahead log used for trading.
Purpose-built for pooled betting, not simulated on top of a CLOB
Zero counterparty risk
Payouts are pool-funded by construction — there is no scenario where the pool cannot cover winning stakes.
Real-time dividend engine
Recalculates on every stake at sub-millisecond speed, so displayed odds are never stale.
Configurable takeout
Per-pool takeout rates, carryovers and consolation dividends, all configured without code changes.

Pari-mutuel pooling, answered
What is pari-mutuel matching?
Pari-mutuel matching pools all stakes on an event together rather than matching individual buyers and sellers. Once the pool closes, it is divided proportionally among winning stakes after a configurable takeout, so odds are only known with certainty at close.
Does pari-mutuel pooling carry counterparty risk?
No. Because payouts are drawn entirely from the pool itself, the operator never has open risk on the outcome — the pool mathematically always balances.
Can dividends update in real time before the pool closes?
Yes. MatchCore recalculates the indicative dividend on every new stake, so bettors see live, continuously updating odds right up to pool close.
Can pari-mutuel pools run alongside fixed-odds or CLOB markets?
Yes — pari-mutuel pools, binary markets and CLOB order books all run on the same MatchCore cluster, so an operator can offer both pool and fixed-odds products on the same event.
